The ModClo Size & Fit Guide (Clothing & Shoes)

Buying online shouldn't be a guessing game. This guide walks you through how to find your size at ModClo — for clothing and shoes — so you order the right fit first time and spend less time on returns. Grab a soft tape measure and take two minutes; it's worth it.

How to measure yourself (the 4 measurements that matter)

Measure over light clothing, keep the tape snug but not tight, and stand relaxed.

  • Bust / chest — around the fullest part, tape level under the arms.
  • Waist — around the narrowest part of your natural waistline.
  • Hips — around the fullest part, roughly 20 cm below the waist.
  • Inside leg (for trousers) — from the top of your inner thigh to your ankle bone.

Write these down and compare them to the size chart on each product page (tap "Size Guide" next to the size options). Our charts show measurements in both centimetres and inches.

Understanding fit — it's not just the number

The same "M" fits differently depending on the cut. On every ModClo product the description tells you the intended fit; here's what the terms mean:

  • Relaxed / oversized — roomy through the body. If you like a closer fit, size down.
  • True to size / regular — take your usual size.
  • Slim / tailored / bodycon — fitted; if you're between sizes or prefer comfort, size up.
  • Stretch — forgiving fabric that moves with you; usually true to size.

Between two sizes? Size up for comfort and for structured or non-stretch fabrics (linen, tailoring); size down for stretch or relaxed styles if you want a neater fit.

Fit tips by category

  • Dresses — check both bust and length (maxi, midi, mini). For dresses, the waist placement matters most for a flattering line; the size guide notes where each style sits.
  • Trousers — go by waist and inside leg. Wide-leg and relaxed styles are forgiving; tailored styles are closer.
  • Shirts & tops — chest is the key measurement. Relaxed shirts layer well; slim styles are neater.
  • Co-ords — sized as a set; check both the top and trouser measurements against your bust and waist.

Shoe sizing

Our footwear is listed in UK sizes, with EU equivalents on the size chart. To measure your foot:

  1. Stand on a piece of paper and trace around your foot (do this late in the day, when feet are slightly larger).
  2. Measure heel-to-toe in centimetres.
  3. Match it to the shoe size chart on the product page.

Tips: measure both feet and use the larger. If you're between sizes, size up — especially for heels and closed styles. All our shoes have a cushioned, supportive footbed, so there's a little give for all-day comfort. Browse women's footwear and men's footwear.

Still unsure? A few pointers

  • Order two sizes if you're genuinely between — keep the best, return the other free within 30 days.
  • Read the fabric note: linen and non-stretch woven fabrics have less give than jersey or stretch blends.
  • Check the model's size where noted, to gauge how a piece falls.
